EVAN N:
North County San Diego has some awesome hilly roads for riding and my longest happened to be just about a year ago. It was a scenic 44 mile trek starting in central Poway and going north to Lake Hodges. I rode along the north shore of the lake and found myself at Del Dios Highway. I knew that going north I would go to Escondido and south somewhere hilly so I chose south. I had recently moved here and did not have a GPS with me so I really wasn’t sure where this ride would take me (as with most of my rides).

It was a fun fast descent as I rode into Rancho Santa Fe. I turned around and went back east on San Dieguito Road and took a break across from a golf course. One more left turn at Camino Del Sur led me straight back home via Camino Del Norte. I can still remember the pain my quads were in the next day. I’m sure doing the 50 mile (which will be my longest single-day ride) with my friends will be just as memorable. Can’t wait!

ERIN BISZAK:
I was living in a small town in Georgia and decided to go for a bike ride. I had no destination or plan other than exploring the outskirts of the town. I rode for a couple hours and then headed back home. I decided to get in the car and track the distance. I couldn’t believe it was 19 miles! I learned from that bike ride that you just gotta keep going. You’ll never know how far you can go, but just keep running, riding, walking..gotta keep moving. On a side note I also noticed that 19 miles in the car was so much more boring and it required me to fill up gas..a definite upside to bike riding..free and always fun!
