We’re back for another 16-week series of riding and training toward the Tour de Poway Metric Century in October and the Bike the Coast, Taste the Coast Century in November. You can use these rides to train for the Century, a charity ride, or just to meet some new people and learn some classic San Diego rides.
THIS WEEK’S RIDE
Week 2, Saturday July 30th
Distance: 30 miles – Mission Bay Boat Launch/Nobel/UCSD
Climbing Difficulty: 1 (Mostly flat with a few rolling hills)
Start Time: 8:00AM SHARP
Start Location: Mission Bay Boat Launch – South Shores Park
The ride leaves promptly at 8:00am. Please arrive early if you haven’t had the chance to sign a waiver and meet your ride guides.
This week, after another practice loop around Fiesta Island, we’ll venture onto the open road has we head up towards UCSD along the Rose Canyon Bike Path. Beginning with our first climb of the century training program up to Nobel Drive, we’ll head west towards UCSD along Eastgate Mall. After cruising through UCSD, we’ll head down Gilman and return via the Rose Canyon Bike Path.
Rain Policy – If the roads are wet and/or rain is expected, then the ride is cancelled. Use this method on the “morning of”: if your driveway is wet, it’s cloudy and the forecast has a 20%+ chance of rain – no ride. If it’s drying out or sunny – come on down, we’ll decide at the start.
